Words on paper, and so began an ongoing 235 year experiment. Looking back over the course of in history, I’m thankful to be living in these exciting times.
Hope you are celebrating America’s birthday today, and I hope you’re close to a pool, river, lake, ocean or an open refrigerator.
On that note, here is a self-portrait (in shadow) our 7 year old took of himself, looking down into the water, while his sister was taking swimming lessons.

FRIO RIVER SONG FESTIVAL
Speaking of being by the water, we have a few Two Day Passes remaining for Frio River Song Festival on the first weekend of August, the 4th, 5th, and 6th, in Concan, Texas (near Garner State Park).
The Two Day Passes include tickets to Friday night’s cabin acoustic songswap show (limited to 75 people) and tickets to Saturday night’s multi-artist band show at House Pasture Cattle Company. (Thursday night is no cover, no tickets needed.)
14 songwriters will performing including Adam Carroll, Jason Eady, John Evans, Kent Finlay, Mark Jungers, Brennen Leigh, The McKay Brothers, Roger Marin, Ruben Moreno, Michael O’Connor, Will Sexton, The Weedhawks, and myself.

My friend Adam Carroll writes about beauty in unexpected places in his songs, and now, in a new book of stories he and Stayton Bonner published this year. The title of the book is “Old Town Rock N Roll: Stories About Music.”
