Execution: 'In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of June 1851' -- P. Maurous (Seal); witnesses H. S. Lewis, M. M. Bonner, John G. Fisher, D. Watts, C. H. P. Wayne, with the note 'The last two witnesses were added at the request of P. Maurous at his bedside in Lauderdale Co. Ala. this 24 June 1851.' Probate: 'At a County Court begun and held for the county aforesaid at the courthouse in Paducah on the 11th day of August 1851 the foregoing last Will and Testament of Philip Maurous deceased was produced to the court and proven by the oaths of H S Lewis, M M Bonner, and John G Fisher, three of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded'; clerk's certificate 11 Sep 1851. So he was alive (bedridden, in Alabama) 24 Jun 1851 and dead by 11 Aug 1851; place of death not stated in any record read. Will's substance: devises Paducah Lots 13/14/15 upper + 1/37 lower town + acreage to 'Fanny Maurous O'Bannon' (clause 8 constitutes wife Eliza 'sole guardian of my ward ... Fanny Maurous O'Bannon' to 21); $500/yr annuity to brother Jean Pierre Maurous; residue + sole executrix to wife Eliza; clause 7 provides $200/yr x 5 for the education of 'the child named for me Philip Maurous the son of Alexander & Maria Saunders of Louisiana.' Corroboration of the death: county court order 9 May 1853, 'E. A. Maurous Ex'x of P. Maurous dec'd' (DGS 008114424 img 258, book p. 420).

AUDITED 17 Aug 2026 - DEATH 24 JUN x 11 AUG 1851, PER HIS WILL: last recorded alive 24 Jun 1851 ('at his bedside in Lauderdale Co. Ala.'), 'Philip Maurous deceased' at probate, Paducah, 11 Aug 1851. PLACE OF DEATH UNKNOWN - Alabama in June, probated McCracken; no record read states where he died.
THE MAN - b. abt 1800 LOUISIANA per the 1850 census (McCracken p. 136A: 'Maurons, Phillip, 50, Trader, $20,000, b. Louisiana'), NOTE-ONLY here because census-derived; no birth event is asserted. Wife Eliza ('E. A. Maurous', b. abt 1800 New York per the 1850/1860 censuses) was sole executrix - county court order 9 May 1853 styles her 'E. A. Maurous Ex'x of P. Maurous dec'd' (DGS 008114424 img 258) - and, under clause 8, sole guardian of his ward Fanny Maurous O'Bannon [834] to age 21 (county-court qualification 15 May 1855, order book p. 562). He was administrator of James O'Bannon's estate (order 13 Oct 1845), which is how Fanny came into his household. Brother: Jean Pierre Maurous (will, annuity clause).
OPEN - clause 7's 'Philip Maurous [Saunders], son of Alexander & Maria Saunders of Louisiana' (a namesake boy under 10 in 1851) is UNTESTED as evidence that Fanny's widowed mother Maria remarried a Saunders; the tree's [1626]-daughter-of-[1628] link (F514) is itself UNPROVEN - the will names Fanny his WARD, never Maria his daughter.
