Baldwin, Maryland Calendar of Wills vol. III pp. 218-19, abstracting Prerogative Court Wills Liber 13 f. 362: 'Crouch, Robert, Somerset Co., 30th Oct. 1711; 28th Nov. 1711. To wife MARY, 100 A. "Crouches Desire" absolutely, and dwelling plantation during life; to pass to son JACOB at her decease ... To daus. ROSE, ANN, RACHELL, ELS ... to sons JOHN and ROBERT ... Ex.: son Jacob.' ⭐⭐ IF HE IS ROBERT, THE TREE'S IMPOSSIBILITY DISSOLVES WITHOUT TOUCHING A SINGLE DATE: [2648] MARY is then CORRECT - she is Robert's widow, and as the mother of an adult executor son in 1711 she was born decades before the recorded 1680, so the 'twelve-year-old mother' is a NAME error one generation up, not a date error. ⚠️ WHY NO RENAME: this abstract was read by a research agent and has NOT been verified by hand; a rename is not reversible by a flag; and this whole Somerset family reaches Owen only through [115] Nathan Crouch, whose links are flagged 3=DISPUTED - so it is not yet established that this man belongs in Owen's ancestry at all. ⭐ A SECOND SOMERSET CROUCH FAMILY EXISTS IN THE SAME HUNDRED AT THE SAME TIME - widow ELIZABETH with orphans ROBERT and JOHN, June Court 1725 - so name-matching alone will collapse them. ➡️ THE DOCUMENT THAT WOULD SETTLE IT: the INVENTORY of Robert Crouch, Somerset Co. 1711, Prerogative Liber 33A f. 144, with its account at Liber 36C f. 271 (1716).
