Latane, Lucy Temple. Parson Latane, 1672-1732 (Norman, Remington Co., Baltimore, 1936) - archive.org full text
p. 56 (opening page of the chapter 'Mary Deane')
READ 29 Sep 2026 in the archive.org text (register K885): "Mrs. Mary Latane (Mary Deane) outlived her husband many years. She was born in 1685, probably in or near Lincoln, England, since a letter refers to relatives in both Lincoln and the nearby town of Beverley. Of her parentage we know nothing, only the fact that she was 'cousin to Col. Beverley of Blandfield.'"

Research notes

Working notes from the research, kept verbatim — what was read, what it proved, what stays open. Many open with a line grading the parentage; what the grades mean.

Research note · 29 Sep 2026
AUDITED 29 Sep 2026 - BIRTH CORRECTED; DEATH YEAR HELD (round-7 triage A7, A8; Owen). BIRTH: the tree gave 1673 at 'Lincoln, Loudoun, Virginia', cited only to a Find a Grave index row with no text. That place cannot be right, because Loudoun County was formed in 1757. Lucy Temple Latane, Parson Latane (1936), p. 56: "She was born in 1685, probably in or near Lincoln, England, since a letter refers to relatives in both Lincoln and the nearby town of Beverley." The birth is now about 1685, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England, cited to that page. It is a family compiler's reading of the family papers, not a baptism. DEATH: the tree gives 1732, her husband's death year, again cited only to the Find a Grave index. Parson Latane p. 65 says an entry in Lewis Latane's note-book, in a hand the author took for their son John's, "records the death of Mary Latane in 1765". The date is NOT changed yet: the Find a Grave memorial behind the 1732 is to be read first, because the round-7 dossier reports that it gives 1765. HER PARENTS: unknown. Parson Latane p. 56: "Of her parentage we know nothing, only the fact that she was 'cousin to Col. Beverley of Blandfield.'" Register K885. Dossier: agent-report-60-mary-deane-2026-09-28.md.
