Working notes from the research, kept verbatim — what was read, what it proved, what stays open. Many open with a line grading the parentage; what the grades mean.
Research note · 30 Sep 2026
AUDITED 30 Sep 2026 - FATHER NAMED IN AN ABSTRACT, NOT YET ENTERED. The Combs Research Group website (combs-families.org, Loudoun County Combs records, 1800s) abstracts the will of James Craig of Loudoun Co., Va. - written 29 Mar 1808, probated 13 Jan 1812, Will Book K p. 73 - as naming sons-in-law Edward Cavens and John Combs, daughters Agnes Redman and Izabel Huddleston, sons James and Samuel, grandsons Isaac and James (sons of William, deceased) and daughter-in-law Rebecca; the same site states 'Margaret CRAIG m Edward CAVENS'. Two pages of that one site are one compiled source, not two. Will Book K (1811-1814) is on Library of Virginia reel 55.
Owen, 30 Sep 2026: hold James Craig until Will Book K p. 73 is read on the image. Do not add a mother: 'Jane Wetherow' is that site's own compiled claim. Her birthplace (New Castle, Delaware) and death (1810, Kentucky) are uncited. Agent report: agent-report-920-margaret-craig-2026-09-30.md.
