Research note · 1 Oct 2026
AUDITED 1 Oct 2026 - THIS IS THE ELDER PATRICK SARSFIELD (the confederate, b. c. 1620-28), NOT HIS SON THE EARL OF LUCAN (Owen, round-9 triage). The record mixed the two generations: its birth (1620, Lucan), its wife [1656] Anne O'Moore and its children ([1644] Frances, b. 1650, and her siblings) belong to the father; its death - 1693 at Neerwinden, the Battle of Landen - was the son's, and was blanked 1 Oct 2026. The Earl married Honora Burke; Anne O'Moore was his mother (agent-report-1655-patrick-sarsfield-2026-10-01.md). PRIMARY NAME NOW 'Patrick Sarsfield', without the son's style (Owen, 1 Oct 2026): the imported 'Sir Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan' is kept as an alternate name. The earldom was created in 1691 for the son, and no record read gives this man a knighthood. The Earl himself is not in this tree.
PARENTS: unknown. Compiled accounts (Wauchope 1992, as reported) give Peter Sarsfield of Tully, Co. Kildare and Eleanor Dempsey, daughter of the 1st Viscount Clanmalier. Held, not entered (Owen, 1 Oct 2026): no 17th-century document has been read, and this family stands two ungraded generations above [1594] Francois Plunkett. Next documents: the Betham abstract of the 1631 Prerogative will of Patrick Sarsfielde of Tully; the 1683 will of William Sarsfield of Lucan. Catholic parish registers for 1620s-50s Dublin and Kildare do not survive - do not search for a baptism.
