Research note · 7 Oct 2026
AUDITED 7 Oct 2026 - PARENTS UNKNOWN; DEATH MOVED 'after 1795' -> 'after 1808' (round-10 triage, Owen). The NRHP nomination for Midway (Essex Co., Va.) has him deeding 410 acres 'where I reside' to his son John ([2121]) in 1808, so he was alive then (agent-report-2137-benjamin-jones-2026-10-07.md; the deed itself not yet read). Two later deaths circulate on thomasmoore.info, a compiled site - c. 1812 for a Benjamin son of Richard Jones (d. 1805), and c. 1829 for the husband of Massy Crow - and they may be two different men; neither is entered. Richard Jones (d. 1805) as this man's father is held, not entered: he fits a younger Benjamin better.
THIS FAMILY (F606) PROBABLY MIXES TWO GENERATIONS. See [2138]. The deciding records: the 1808 deed to 'son John' (Essex deed book, DGS to be found); the Essex personal property tax lists 1782-1812, which should separate an older and a younger Benjamin; the Benjamin Jones x Massy Crow marriage bond, c. 1805-10.
