Research notes
Working notes from the research, kept verbatim — what was read, what it proved, what stays open. Many open with a line grading the parentage; what the grades mean.
Research note · 24 Sep 2026
AUDITED 24 Sep 2026 - BIRTH PLACE REMOVED; THE DATE IS KEPT (round-6 triage A2, Owen).
The tree gave his birth place as Fougères, Ille-et-Vilaine, with no citation, and no record read so far names where he was born. The place is now blank, which is the honest state. The date 12 Oct 1672 is kept and is also uncited. 'France' was not put in its place, because no source says that either.
What IS read: the 1705 baptism of his daughter [3314] (ANOM, Saint-Louis-du-Sud, register J11) names him as her father - see her Audited note.
HIS PARENTS: unknown. The specialist source is E. Arnaud, Genealogie de la famille Rossignol de la Chicotte (CGHIA dossier 7, 1988), which may hold the marriage contract naming both spouses' parents; it is to be sought. Dossier: agent-report-3324-jean-le-pays-2026-09-23.md.
