Thomas Yeatman

29 Sep 2026 (later) - HIS WILL AND THE 1765 RICHMOND DEED ARE NOW READ ON THE IMAGE. His nine children are quoted in the last paragraph, not entered as people; his parents stay held (Owen). AUDITED 29 Sep 2026 - HIS WILL IS FOUND IN TRANSCRIPT; NOTHING IS ENTERED FROM IT YET (round-7 triage A10, A11, A12, C3; Owen). W. C. Yeatman, The Yeatmans in America (1933), pp. 17-18, transcribes the will of Thomas Yeatman of Westmoreland County and Washington Parish, 'written with my own hand', dated 4 Apr 1808, recorded in Deeds & Wills Book 22 pp. 158-159, probate granted 26 Nov 1810 (register K886). It names daughters Patty Sanford, Fanny Pope, Sally Thompson ('she and her husband Rich[d] Thompson') and Lucy Northen, and sons John, Thos. M., Griffin, Meredith and Henry L. It names no wife. It has been read only in that 1933 transcript, not on the image. HELD until the image is read: his wife (Frances Robinson in the 1933 book), the other nine children, and a birth of 1 Feb 1740 (the 1933 book; the tree holds no birth for him). HIS PARENTS: the 1933 book makes him the son of John Yeatman (d. before Oct 1753, Richmond County) and Susannah, later Eskridge, citing Richmond County Deed Book 12 p. 669 (6 Oct 1765). They are not entered until that deed is read on the image. The 'John Yeatman Sr, d. 1811' chancery lead (193-1873-113) is set aside for now: the 1933 book makes that John (b. about 1742, d. 1811) his brother, another son of John and Susannah, not his father. WILL, Westmoreland Deeds & Wills 22 pp. 158-160, dated 4 Apr 1808, proved 26 Nov 1810 (FamilySearch DGS 7645879 images 748-750, K893): 'I lend to my Daughter Patty Sanford & to her Children'; 'my daughter Fanny Pope', with 'the property she purchas'd at her decd. Husband Austin Pope's Estate'; 'my daughter Sally Thompson' and 'her husband Richd. Thompson'; 'my daughter Lucy Northen'; 'my Son Meredith Yeatman'; the rest 'equally devided among my five Sons - John Yeatman, Thos. M. Yeatman, Griffin Yeatman, Meredith Yeatman, & Henry L. Yeatman'. Executors Meredith and Henry L. Yeatman; witnesses Walker Muse and Sophia Muse. That is nine children, not the ten of the 1933 book, and NO WIFE is named, so Frances is still not entered from the will. Every name in the 1933 transcript (K886) is confirmed on the image. DEED, Richmond Co. Deed Book 12 pp. 669-670, 5 Oct 1765, proved 7 Oct 1765 (DGS 8562390 images 589-590, K896): Susanna Eskridge, Thomas Yeatman and Frances his wife, of Lunenburg Parish, to John Sandy, 144 1/2 acres, 'the Land William Cooper purchased of Colo. William Loyd and afterwards come into the Possession of John Yeatman the Elder and by heirship Came in the Possession of Susanna Eskridge, Thomas Yeatman'. Frances, 'the wife of the said Thomas', relinquished her dower. The deed does NOT call him 'her son', which the 1933 book implied. SO HIS PARENTS STAY UNENTERED: the deed shows Thomas and Susanna sharing John Yeatman the Elder's land by heirship, but states neither relationship, and nothing yet ties this 1765 Richmond Thomas to the Westmoreland testator of 1808 except the 1933 book.
