AUDITED 8 Oct 2026 - BENJAMIN J. BARRETT, farmer, of Butler County, Alabama; killed in 1863 in the battle of Chickamauga. In the 1860 census (Precinct 3, Butler County, page 149, read on the image, register K966) he is B. J. Barrett, 36, farmer, real estate $1,200, his birthplace left blank, with E. Barrett, 32, born Georgia, and six children. His widow Elizabeth's Texas Confederate pension application, no. 1499 (Franklin County, 1899, K967), names him as "B. J. Borrett". It says they married in April 1846 in Butler County and that he was killed in 1863 in the last day's battle of Chickamauga, serving in "Company B, 4th Bat." His son Thomas Jefferson Barrett's 1919 Texas death certificate (K964) names him "Benjamin Barrett". His daughter [3423] Mary E. Holder is attached as his child by ARGUMENT; see her note, which explains why her own certificate's "J. T. Barrett" is taken as an error. Only [3423] is attached in this tree. Find a Grave gives him 1825-1863 (K253, compiled, not adopted). His middle name and parents are unknown.
