Research note · 10 Oct 2026
AUDITED 10 Oct 2026 - DANIEL PROPS, of Hempstead and then Sevier County, Arkansas; died intestate in Sevier County on or about 1 April 1858, leaving no widow. The date and place are from the 1860 Hempstead County deed of his administrator Lewis C. Props, Book Q, pp. 164-165 (read on the image, register K971). That deed sold his Hempstead land in Sections 32 and 33, Township 10 South, Range 26 West, under a probate order. His estate was settled in the Sevier County probate court (vol. 8-9, p. 53, register K970), where the heirs are named as John H. Props, Lewis C. Props, Meredith W Edwards and Martha his wife, James M. Coulter and Brunetta his wife, and the Kinsworthy-McElroy-Coulter heirs of a fifth share. The court calls Martha "daughter of said deceased". Only [1248] is attached as his child in this tree. Feild (1961) gives him a birth in Virginia in 1775 and a death in 1852, and the 1852 is wrong. A wife is not named in either court record, and his own parents are unknown.
