Working notes from the research, kept verbatim — what was read, what it proved, what stays open. Many open with a line grading the parentage; what the grades mean.

Research note · 30 Sep 2026
AUDITED 30 Sep 2026 - PARENTS NAMED IN PRINT, NOT YET ENTERED. Cope, Genealogy of the Sharpless Family (1887), entry 160: [563] William Sharples 'm. 10 mo. 7, 1773, at Birmingham Mtg., Ann Hunt ... dau. of William and Sarah Hunt, of Westtown township' (quoted from OCR in derrick-sharpless-chesterco-search-2026-08-05.md; the page image not yet read). Hinshaw vol. II, Concord Monthly Meeting p. 257, abstracts the marriage minutes as 'Ann Hunt, dt of William & Sarah of Chester Co, Pa' (archive.org OCR only, 30 Sep 2026). The Chester County Wills & Administrations index 1714-1923 is reported to carry one William Hunt of Westtown: file 4110, administration 1790 (extracted by a research worker, not yet re-read by the project). Owen, 30 Sep 2026: enter William and Sarah Hunt once Cope and Hinshaw are read on the image; Sarah's maiden name unknown. The 1790 administration file is the document that could name Ann as an heir. OPEN, NOT PURSUED: Hinshaw's Concord HUNT entries include 'Ann m William Sharpless' and the disownment of an Ann on 4 mo. 3, 1786 - whether that is this Ann is not settled. A 1753 Concord marriage of a William Hunt to a Sarah Fred, daughter of Nicholas, is a lead for her mother only if a record places that couple in Westtown.
