WILL OF CONRAD CARPENTER, Lincoln Co., Kentucky, Will Book pp. 20-21, proved August 1829. THE SIBLING CLAUSE, VERBATIM: "...not herein above disposed of I desire may be equally divided making my half Brothers or their heirs equal in full with my full Brothers and Sisters to wit the heirs of my half brother George Carpenter dec'd one equal part in full with any one of my full Brothers or Sisters, also my half brother John Carpenter dec'd heirs one equal part in full with my full brothers & Sisters, also the heirs of my Brother Adam Carpenter dec'd one equal part in full, also my brother Henry Carpenter one equal part in full, also my brother William Carpenter one equal part in full, also my Sister Anne Carpenter now Anne Millebary[?] one equal part in full, also my sister Barbary Carpenter now Barbary Jones one equal part in full, also my sister Elizabeth Carpenter now Kiblinger[?] one equal part in full, also my sister Margaret Carpenter now Margaret Pence one equal part in full, also my sister Sollinia[?] Carpenter now..." WHAT IT ESTABLISHES FOR [733] ADAM CARPENTER: the testator sorts his siblings into TWO classes and qualifies exactly two of them as HALF - George and John. Adam is named WITHOUT that qualifier in the same enumeration, so he is a FULL sibling of the testator: same father AND same mother. The will states no parentage; it states siblingship. ⛔ It is therefore ARGUMENT evidence, not DIRECT. ⭐ IT ALSO CLOSES THE FULL-SIBLING SET BY ENUMERATION: eight full siblings besides the testator - Adam, Henry, William, Anne, Barbary, Elizabeth, Margaret, Sollinia[?]. F745 holds TEN children, carrying BOTH [3152] Margretha and [3155] Margaret (both proof 0/0) where the will names ONE Margaret, now Pence. A possible duplicate - NOT merged, queued for Owen. 'Sollinia' is very likely [3156] Selema. ⚠️ THIS CITATION REPLACES A PARAPHRASE. Until 13 Sep 2026 it read 'Sibling clause personally read at zoom... Establishes Adam as Conrad's FULL brother' - a summary, not the words. Under the provenance rule adopted 13 Sep 2026 (K669) a note may not assert what a document SAYS from a paraphrase, and the verbatim clause had been in register row L4, with the images on disk, since 4 Aug 2026. PROVENANCE: read on the ORIGINAL WILL-BOOK IMAGE at zoom, 13 Sep 2026 (K671) - sources/lincoln-ky-willbook-img36-conrad-carpenter-will-1829.jpg (right-hand page, p. 21) and ...-img37-...-end.jpg. Lincoln Co., Ky. Will Book pp. 20-21, proved Aug 1829. Register rows L4 and K671. [?] marks an uncertain reading of a surname; the kin terms carry no ambiguity.

Verbatim, with the two neighbouring entries included because they are what establish the meaning of the parenthetical number: "John Hetterich (Hedrick), Reformed (44), elder and wife Susanna, nee Hornung. GEORGE ZIMMERMANN, REFORMED ELDER (45), AND WIFE ANNA, NEE, SCHULTELI. Jacob Mueller (46), and wife Maria Barbara, nee Chrombohr. Frederick Stoll (Stull), and wife Charlotte, nee Ritter, (47) ..." READ THE NUMBERS CORRECTLY: 44, 45, 46 and 47 run consecutively across four SUCCESSIVE FAMILIES. They are the editor's list-item numbers, NOT ages. A first reading of this source took (45) for George's age and inferred a birth about 1717; that inference is WITHDRAWN and no birth year is entered from this document. WHAT THE ENTRY DOES ESTABLISH: the couple are named together in a contemporaneous congregation list; he is an ELDER; and the confession is REFORMED. The last of these matters - Schaffhausen is a Reformed canton, whereas the Salzburg emigrants of 1731-32 were LUTHERAN expellees bound for Georgia. So this single word contradicts the 'Salzburg' birthplace string the tree carries for [3315], George's father. --- CORRECTED AND EXTENDED 13 Sep 2026 (K673), FROM THE PAGE IMAGE. ⛔ THE 2 Aug 2026 READ WAS FROM THE OCR TEXT LAYER AND MISDESCRIBED THE RECORD: this is NOT a membership list. It is the register's BAPTISMAL RECORDS table - three columns, PARENTS | CHILDREN | SPONSORS - and the archive.org text layer serialises the three columns into one run, which is why only the parents column was seen and the child was invisible. Read on the image (vol. XIII p. 252, entry 45), the full row is: PARENTS 'George Zimmermann, Reformed elder (45), and wife Anna, nee, Schulteli.' | CHILDREN 'Barbara, bapt. August 29.' | SPONSORS 'Parents.' The year is fixed by entry (40) on the same page, 'Anna Catharine; bapt. April 25 (1762).' So entry 45 records the BAPTISM OF A DAUGHTER, Barbara, on 29 August 1762. The numbering finding above stands unchanged: 44, 45, 46 and 47 are consecutive families, not ages. The table head PARENTS / CHILDREN / SPONSORS was anchored on vol. XIII p. 249, where the baptismal list opens with entries (1)-(4). Image: ancestry/sources/peaked-mountain-register-2026-09-13/WMQ13-leaf0515.jpg

Record of the Peaked Mountain Church, William and Mary College Quarterly ser. 1, vol. XIV, p. 10, entries 130-132, read on the page image 13 Sep 2026 (K673). Verbatim, with the bracketing entries included because they are what fix the row alignment: PARENTS 'John Boyer [Beyer] and Eva.' (129) CHILDREN 'Mary Margaret, born June 1, 1781; bapt. July 13, 1781.' SPONSORS 'Matthias Kirsch and Anna Margaret.' -- PARENTS 'George Zimmermann, Sr., and Anna.' (130) CHILDREN 'Salome, born Aug. 22, 1771; bapt. July 13, 1783.' SPONSORS [blank]. -- ditto ditto (131) CHILDREN 'William, born May 28, 1775; bapt. July 13, 1783.' -- ditto ditto (132) CHILDREN 'Henry, born May 12, 1778; bapt. July 13, 1783.' -- PARENTS 'John Risch and Anna Maria.' (133) CHILDREN 'Sarah, born March 10; bapt. June 16, 1783.' SPONSORS 'Peter Nicolas, Jr.' ★ THE ROW ALIGNMENT IS CONTROLLED, NOT ASSUMED: entries 131 and 132 carry DITTO MARKS in the parents column, so all three children belong to entry 130's parents. The control is Henry - this tree already carried his birth as 12 May 1778 from elsewhere, and entry 132 reads 'Henry, born May 12, 1778', which is true only at this alignment; one row out and Salome attaches to John Boyer, whose wife is Eva, not Anna. ⛔ The register names NO Adam and NO Margaret in this family, and it records 4 of the 12 children F745 and F908 hold, so its silence about a child is not evidence either way. ⛔ This is Hinke and Kemper's printed TRANSLATION OF A COPY - the editors state at vol. XIII p. 248 that all baptismal entries were copied at a later time into a second record-book, and that Christian names were Englished while surnames were kept - so it is cited as their printing, never as the church book itself. Audited 26 Jul 2026 - Junction #8. Parents established: George Zimmerman/Carpenter Sr and Ann Schulteli. Death corrected from 11 Jun to 11 Jan 1806 (Steve & Virginia Tyler Carpenter, The Carpenters of Carpenter's Station, Kentucky (1976), written from the Carpenter family papers and the Adam Carpenter family Bible, both preserved at the Kentucky Historical Society, Frankfort). See ancestry/zimmerman-carpenter-junction.md.
PROOF CLASS: FATHER = ARGUMENT (13 Sep 2026, K671, Owen's grade; flag 1 unchanged). Conrad Carpenter's 1829 Lincoln Co., Ky. will calls him 'my Brother' unqualified while calling two others 'my half brother'. Summary below.
PROOF CLASS: MOTHER = ARGUMENT (13 Sep 2026, K671, Owen's grade; flag 1 unchanged). The same will's full-blood wording gives him and the testator one mother; which woman she was is the F745 marriage question, not this one.
THE ARGUMENT (K671). Conrad Carpenter's own will, Lincoln Co., Ky., proved August 1829, read on the original will-book image, divides his estate 'making my half Brothers or their heirs equal in full with my full Brothers and Sisters'. It qualifies exactly two siblings as HALF - George and John - and names this man WITHOUT that qualifier: 'the heirs of my Brother Adam Carpenter dec'd one equal part in full'. In an enumeration where the half-blood ARE marked, the unmarked are full blood: same father and same mother as the testator.
THE STEP THAT MAKES IT PARENTAGE: [1075] George and [3148] John sit in F908, the first-wife family. ⭐ That structure is forced by ARITHMETIC and not by any compiled source - [3147] Anna Sophia Schulteli, b. 1735, cannot be George Jr's mother, b. 1746. A half brother shares one parent; since the mother differs, the shared parent is the father. So the testator is [3146] George Zimmerman/Carpenter Sr's son, and this man - his FULL brother - is [3146]'s son by the same mother as the testator.
WHY NOT DIRECT: no record read states 'Adam son of George'. The will states SIBLINGSHIP; the parentage is reached by correlation, which is ARGUMENT by definition.
ON THE MOTHER HALF: the will gives this man and the testator ONE mother. WHICH woman she was is a question about the [3146] x [3147] marriage - a different link - and is not charged here. Tyler & Carpenter, The Carpenters of Carpenter's Station, Kentucky (1976), written from the family papers and the Adam Carpenter family Bible at the Kentucky Historical Society, names her; that is ONE compiled statement and it identifies her, it does not carry this link.
⛔ RECORDED, NOT ACTED ON: the will enumerates eight full siblings besides the testator, while F745 holds ten children - it carries both [3152] Margretha and [3155] Margaret where the will names one Margaret, now Pence. A possible duplicate; queued for Owen, not merged.
REGISTER READ IN FULL, 13 Sep 2026 (K673) - A SECOND INSTRUMENT, AND IT DOES NOT NAME ADAM. The Record of the Peaked Mountain Church, 1745-1802 (Hinke and Kemper, William and Mary College Quarterly ser. 1, vol. XIII pp. 247-256 and vol. XIV pp. 9-19 and 186-193) was read complete on the page images, 29 pages, and it names four children of George Zimmermann and wife Anna nee Schulteli: Barbara, bapt. 29 Aug 1762 (vol. XIII p. 252, entry 45); and Salome born 22 Aug 1771, William born 28 May 1775 and Henry born 12 May 1778, all three bapt. 13 July 1783 (vol. XIV p. 10, entries 130-132). Four of the eight full siblings named in Conrad Carpenter's 1829 Lincoln Co., Ky. will - Barbary, Sollima, William and Henry - are therefore attested in a contemporary church book under the same two parents, in an instrument made at the time of the events and not derived from that will (vol. XIV p. 10); Sollima is Salome. ⛔ THE GRADE DOES NOT MOVE AND NEITHER HALF IS RE-CLASSED: the register contains no baptism for Adam, so nothing in it states his filiation. ⛔ It names no Margaret in this family either, and it records only 4 of the 12 children F745 and F908 hold, so its silence about a child is not evidence either way (vol. XIII pp. 247-256; vol. XIV pp. 9-19, 186-193). ⛔ Do not read the 1976 Carpenters of Carpenter's Station as a second witness to this register: that book works from the register, so the two are one witness, not two.
