Five deeds 1867-76 call Selina his wife, but that is 49 years after this birth and brackets nothing. He charges himself with the $365.75 balance due on the final settlement of August term 1882 and credits himself 'By Receipts of the heirs to said Estate for their distributive Shares in said estate' - 24 numbered vouchers. THE ARITHMETIC IS THE CONTROL AND IT CLOSES: 4 x 52.25 + 3 x 17.40 + 5 x 10.45 + 12 x 4.35 = $365.65 against the stated $365.75, the 10c residue explained exactly by rounding a $52.25 share down to the nickel when divided three ways and twelve ways. So the estate divided into SEVEN equal shares - four drawn in person, three drawn per stirpes by groups of representatives - and M F Cornelius drew a whole child's share alongside the three Mansfield sons. IDENTITY (the claim, since the record names the child): the 1870 census of Silver Creek township, Randolph Co., already recorded in this note above, enumerates her as 'M F CORNELIUS, 50, b. VIRGINIA' - the settlement's exact name form, fourteen years earlier, in the same county; she died there 17 Jul 1892 as Mrs. Fanny Cornelius (K232) and her own estate is indexed under Cornelius (K343-K345); and the families were already joined on the public record, Joseph A Mansfield serving as executor of Robert Cornelius's will in 1870 with William H. Mansfield surety on his $4,000 bond (ark 3:1:3QSQ-G9L9-9G9L). WHAT IT IS NOT: the settlement says 'the heirs', never 'my daughter' - the filiation is carried by the share structure, which is why this class and not the higher one. RECORDED, NOT SMOOTHED: his will (proved 20 Apr 1880, ark 3:1:3QS7-99L9-M9PZ) devises the home place to son Joseph A Mansfield and names NO other child - a single specific devise, not a residuary distribution, so it does not refute the rest; the 1884 county history says thirteen children against this record's seven surviving shares, unreconciled; and the Barnes, Bradley and Anderson groups imply three deceased children who are NOT in this tree - nobody may be added on that. UPGRADES TO DIRECT on the August term 1882 FINAL settlement or the order of distribution behind it, same volume, unread - and that is also the falsifier: if it shows her taking as a representative rather than in her own right, this grade falls. MOTHER HALF, re-aimed rather than declined: five Randolph deeds of 1867, 1867, 1869, 1870 and 1876 recite 'the said William H. Mansfield and Selina his wife' with her dower released separately (1876: ark 3:1:3Q9M-C395-GSRC-V), so [893] is his wife BY RECORD where she had been tree-only - but that is 49 years after this birth and brackets nothing. THE CHEAPEST UPGRADE IS ONE DOCUMENT: an Orange Co., Virginia marriage record for William H. Mansfield and Salina Eddings, c. 1814 - with it the marriage precedes the 27 Oct 1818 birth and the same wife survives him, the bracketed-marriage shape graded for [104] (K431) and [1257] (K657). He is in Orange Co. by record in 1816-1820, a deed to him presented in that county's court (ark 3:1:3Q9M-CSKJ-S31T-N). SCOPED NEGATIVE, do not restate wider: no estate of Selina or Salina Mansfield (d. 28 Jul 1888) appears anywhere in the FamilySearch FULL-TEXT corpus for Randolph Co., with both controls firing in the same pass - 'Selina Mansfield' returns her five deeds and her husband's estate returns 18 documents. The scope is the OCR'd corpus ONLY; the 1877-1914 general index is not OCR'd, so a widow's estate could still exist on film. INSTRUMENT, and it is why this lane looked shut: the Randolph PROBATE volumes are NOT in the 'Missouri, Wills and Deeds' collection (f.collectionId=3158841) but in 'United States, Missouri, Legal' (M9J1-S91) and '..., Properties' (M9J1-7RT). Scoped to 3158841 the phrase 'estate of William H. Mansfield' returns 2 hits, both the same sale deed; UNSCOPED it returns 43, and the Randolph ones include the Probate and Settlement volumes this lane had listed as unread. VIRGINIA', head of household at Silver Creek, Randolph Co., Missouri — b. c.1818, matching [889]'s recorded 1818 in Orange Co., Virginia. ⚠️ It also resolves a conflict: the 1850 census enumerates her as 22 (b. c.1828), which is the error, not the tree. ⛔ SHE IS THE HEAD BECAUSE SHE IS WIDOWED — no husband is enumerated, confirming her husband's 1860 death. ⚠️ HER DAUGHTER'S DATE IS CONTRADICTED: [910] Sarah Elizabeth is enumerated aged 7 (b. c.1853) against the tree's 1858, and is listed OLDER than [909] Margaret Jane; no two-year-old is in the household. NOT CHANGED. ⭐⭐ NEW AND UNWORKED: her Find A Grave entry reads 'MARY FRANCES CORNELIUS' — she remarried after 1860. ⭐⭐ THE GENERATION'S HEADLINE, from the seven households read together: NOT ONE OF THESE FAMILIES WAS STILL A KENTUCKY FAMILY BY 1860, and the children's birthplace column dates each departure. CARPENTER x POWELL were in SMITH CO., TENNESSEE by 1850 (left KY c. 1845-49). CAVINS x MANSFIELD were in RANDOLPH CO., MISSOURI by 1850 (left KY by 1844). QUISENBERRY x BUSH were still in Clark Co., KY in 1850 but in BOONE CO., MISSOURI by 1860 (left c. 1854-59). That is what turns a matching name into a marriage. ⛔ THE HUSBAND WAS NOT CREATED: only the surname is known, and he is absent from the household, so she may have been widowed twice. ⚠️ AND HER DAUGHTER'S DATE REMAINS OPEN: [910] Sarah Elizabeth is NOT in this household, so the 1860 reading of 'aged 7, listed older than Margaret Jane' against the tree's 1858 gets no second witness. NOTHING WAS CHANGED. 21 AUG 2026 - HER DEATH NOTICE FOUND, AND IT ADDS A BURIAL (K232): Armstrong Herald (Armstrong, Howard Co., Mo.), Fri 22 Jul 1892 p. 4, district column signed OBEDIAH: 'DIED:--Sunday July 17 after a long illness, Mrs. Fanny Cornelius. She was about 70 years of age and had been a member of the Baptist church at this pla[ce] for year[s]. The remains were interred in the family burying-ground, 1 mile north of Roanoke Monday.' IDENTIFICATION CONTEXTUAL AND OURS, graded strong: 17 Jul 1892 was a Sunday and is her E3078 death date; the place is Roanoke; Cornelius = her 2nd husband [912]; Fanny = Frances, her middle name ('Mary F Cavins', 1860). The notice names NO kin, no maiden name, no parents - [279]'s parentage closer remains the MSA loose case file (reel C35013; Owen's order in flight since 21 Aug 2026). A BURIAL EVENT was created from this notice: Mon 18 Jul 1892, family burying-ground 1 mile north of Roanoke (whose family - Cornelius or Cavins - the notice does not say; the place row is Roanoke, the detail lives here and in the citation). 'About 70' vs computed 73 (b. 27 Oct 1818) - informant tolerance, recorded. COVERAGE ZERO, CONTROLLED: Newspapers.com holds NO Randolph Co. pages for Jul-Sep 1892 (the masthead control 'Moberly' fired 2,124 times with every surrounding county in the facet and Randolph absent) - do not re-hunt a Moberly/Huntsville obituary there. IT NAMES NO PARENT, AND THAT NEGATIVE IS CONTROLLED. (K686) cit 4804 and cit 6855 both point at the same image and both read ActualText LENGTH=0, so the record counted as UNREAD while the image sat on disk (K490/K668). Now transcribed on both. Manuscript p. 74, first entry on the page: "... Thomas Foster a preacher of the Gospel joined together James E. Cavins and Mary Frances Mansfield man and wife both of Randolph County State of Missouri Nov 24th 1842. Thomas Foster. Recorded on the 28 March 1843. Reub. Samuel clerk". The date 24 Nov 1842 is the one already on F363 event E8402, now read on the manuscript. ⛔ NO parent, guardian or consent-giver for either party. CONTROL, two entries below on the SAME page: "This is to certify that I married James Mitchell and Fanny H. Camden on the 11 day of December 1842 by the mutuall consent of her Guardian, the said Mitchell being of lawfull age." This register records a guardian's consent when a party is under age, so its silence here states that both were of full age - it is not a gap. ⛔ THE MOTHER HALF IS UNCHANGED AND NO FLAG MOVES: a marriage return naming neither party's parents cannot bear on either party's own parentage.
