Gruene Hall, Dosey Doe, Big Bend, Frio River & Luckenbach

In the next few days, either this Thursday night at Gruene Hall or on Friday night at the (New) Dosey Doe Acoustic Cafe in Conroe, or in Kerrville on Saturday, or in Luckenbach on Sunday, I will very likely achieve an important personal development goal of mine.

I set out on January 1st with a New Years Resolution – not the usual to “I’ll never drink again,” but instead, I pledged to move beyond the few beers I already knew so well, and to drink 365 different beers in 2012.

True to my word, and true to my mission, I have achieved, with vigor and determination, ahead of schedule, in countless dancehalls, brewpubs, back porches, and living rooms. As of today, I have tried 360 different beers this year. (Here is the list so far).

The oldest written recipe ever discovered – from 3000 years ago – was for… beer. So, if you’re around this weekend, come raise a glass with us to celebrate 3000 years of progress and achievement.

FRIO RIVER SONG FESTIVAL

The festival is 2 weeks away, the Frio River is flowing strong (thanks to all the recent rain), and we have just a few Two Day Passes left for the 6th Annual Frio River Song Festival on the first weekend of August, the 3rd and 4th, in Concan, Texas (near Garner State Park).

Two Day Passes include tickets to Friday night’s cabin acoustic songswap show (limited to 75 people) and tickets to Saturday night’s multi-artist band show at House Pasture Cattle Company.

Nine songwriters will performing 2 shows this year, including Adam Carroll, Jason Eady, John Evans, The Trishas, Michael Waters, and myself.
