Roots and Branches and Ray Wylie Hubbard

Had a great time last night visiting with Ray Wylie Hubbard for a live broadcast of Roots and Branches of Americana on KNBT 92.1FM.

I played a few songs from the new album and talked about what’s happening with Ray. If you missed the show online or on the airwaves last night, you can listen to a recording of the show here.

On the page that opens, hit the play button that is labeled (pts. 1,2).

It’s always great to talk songs and songwriting with Ray, who is our Zen master of songwriting here in Texas.

In case you have missed it, be sure to check out Ray’s latest album, A: Enlightenment B: Endarkenment (Hint: There Is No C).  One of the best records I heard last year.  Been in a my CD player for a few months now.

It was a special night down at Roots & Branches. A songwriter and artist whose songs always tell great stories, Hal Ketchum, was down at the broadcast and sat in and played a great song, “I Miss My Mary,” that I remembered from his Past the Point of Rescue album.

Between Ray and Hal and Brandon Jenkins (who played a great set of songs) and a great crowd of folks listening, the show last night was very humbling and a lot of fun.

Check out the recording of the night if you get a chance.  And if you’re around New Braunfels, come down to Gruene Hall tonight for our first CD Release show…
