Hello friends-
I went to a family reunion of my mother’s side of the family in Goliad State Park yesterday, and the temperature gauge read 108 degrees. We had a good time talking and catching up in the shade of a group of oak trees, and then I walked up to Presidio La Bahia and to the grave of Fannin and his men.
As I walked on the site where Fannin and his men were executed, in the 108 degree heat, I thought that Texas has not always been a comfortable place to live, but for me and my family, any discomfort is more than compensated by the beauty of the land, the quality of the people, and the thousands of ways we have found to have a good time.
One way I’ll be having a good time tonight is at Howard’s in Shiner, Texas for the Summer Songwriter series. I play today, Sunday June 30, from 6:00 to 7:30 tonight.
If you near Shiner today, come and join us. Bill Pekar and friends will play from 4:00 to 6:00.
