¡Viva Terlingua! came out the year before I was born. But the day I listened to it was much later, and it communicated to me – kicked open a door – that I entered.
Saturday, October 17 — Gruene Hall, New Braunfels
With Max Stalling. The oldest dancehall in Texas, six days before the record comes out — which means this is the first night I get to play most of it for a room.
Thursday, October 22 — McGonigel’s Mucky Duck, Houston
Release eve. The album comes out at midnight that night, so somewhere between the last song and the drive home, it stops being mine and starts being everybody’s.
Wednesday, November 11 — The Saxon Pub, Austin
Eight o’clock, at home in Austin, with the record three weeks out in the world and a band behind me.
Closer, Says Love is out October 23 — ten songs, produced by Gordy Quist at The Finishing School in Austin, mixed by Steve Christensen and mastered by Chris Longwood. It started as a year of singles and turned out to be one record.
