p. 1310, right column: "ISAAC T. CROUCH. ... The gentleman of whom we write is a son of Benedict, and grandson of Elijah Crouch. The latter, who was of English descent, reared a family of four children, viz.: Elisha, Benedict, Stephen, and Mary, all of whom lived over fourscore years, and are now deceased. Benedict Crouch was born in June, 1800, near Jefferson, Greene Co., Penn., there passing his early youth. He learned the saddler's trade, which he followed a short time, and was then married to Rebecca, daughter of James Wallace. ... They were tenants on a farm for several years after their marriage, when he bought 288 acres near Bentleyville, Washington Co., Penn. Here he carried on an extensive farming business, and reared a large family of children, as follows: James, Sarah, John, William, Adah, Mary Ann, Thomas, Nathan, Hiram, Isaac T., Elizabeth, Bennett and" [continues p. 1313] "Nesbit". p. 1313, left column: "... William, then residing in Arkansas, felt that duty called him to defend his home and family rather than the nation; he therefore entered the Confederate army, and served throughout the conflict as captain of an Arkansas regiment. Benedict Crouch, for his second spouse, married Charity Wallace, a sister of his first wife, and the children by this union were S. Bentley, Hudson C. and Allison B. ... Isaac T. "CROUCH. - Mrs. Josephine Crouch (nee Allen) was born in Baltimore, Md., October 21, 1834; was married in Washington, Penn., to W. T. Crouch November 4, 1852, and resided for a time in that State; removed to Arkansas in 1855, and to Decatur, Texas in 1895, residing in the home of her son-in-law, E. H. Baumgaertner, in Decatur, till her pure, sweet spirit was called to its 'long sought rest' April 16, 1909. She was converted and joined the M. E. Church, South, in 1848." TWO PRINTINGS, AND THEY DIFFER: the first (13 May 1909, p. 14) reads 'to W. F. Crouch'; the second (20 May 1909, p. 14) reads 'to W. T. Crouch'. Both page images were read at zoom by Claude, 4 Aug 2026, and the letterforms are unambiguous. The reprint is therefore a correction, and its subject is the initial that identifies the husband. Cite the 20 May printing for the initial and record the 13 May variant. This obituary DOES NOT NAME HER PARENTS.

PROOF CLASS: BOTH PARENTS = ARGUMENT - the 1893 Beers sketch of his brother lists William among Benedict x Rebecca Wallace's children and lists the SECOND wife's children separately; three independent corroborations. The Beers sketch is compiled testimony, corroborated.
AUDITED 15 Aug 2026 - PARENTS PROVEN FROM HIS BROTHER'S PRINTED SKETCH. Commemorative Biographical Record of Washington County, Pennsylvania (Chicago: J. H. Beers and Co., 1893), pages 1310 and 1313 - the sketch of ISAAC T. CROUCH, read on the page images 5 Aug 2026, both folios and running heads verified (citation C7055; register row L16). Page 1310 reads: "Benedict Crouch was born in June, 1800, near Jefferson, Greene Co., Penn. ... was then married to Rebecca, daughter of James Wallace", and that the couple "reared a large family of children, as follows: James, Sarah, John, WILLIAM, Adah, Mary Ann, Thomas, Nathan, Hiram, Isaac T., Elizabeth, Bennett and" [page 1313] "Nesbit." Page 1313 reads: "William, then residing in Arkansas ... entered the Confederate army, and served throughout the conflict as captain of an Arkansas regiment." The sketch names Benedict's SECOND wife and her children separately - "Benedict Crouch, for his second spouse, married Charity Wallace, a sister of his first wife, and the children by this union were S. Bentley, Hudson C. and Allison B." - so the list containing William is unambiguously Rebecca's. ProofFather and ProofMother on family F73 are therefore set to 1 today.
* GRADE, recorded because the flag alone cannot carry it: this is a COMMISSIONED 1893 COUNTY VOLUME - an informant, NOT a record - and its informant is almost certainly the subject Isaac T. Crouch himself. It is set to 1 under a standard Owen fixed on 15 Aug 2026: family testimony from a full brother, about his own parents and siblings, one generation from the events, is proof of parentage. A future session should treat this as a graded judgement, not as a record citation.
* THREE INDEPENDENT CORROBORATIONS ALREADY IN THIS TREE, namely citation C7039 and the recorded 1856 birth of [108]. (1) His wife Josephine's obituary in the Texas Christian Advocate, 20 May 1909, page 14 (citation C7039) has them married at Washington, Penn. on 4 Nov 1852 and removed to Arkansas in 1855, which matches the sketch's "then residing in Arkansas" on page 1313. (2) His son [108] is named William BENEDICT Crouch, carrying the grandfather's name from page 1310. (3) That son [108] was born at Arkadelphia, Clark Co., Arkansas on 10 July 1856, placing this William in Arkansas exactly where the 1893 sketch puts him.
* SCOPE: this proves WILLIAM'S parents. It does not prove the generation above - [112] Benedict's own father Elijah is named on page 1310, but that link is untouched here, and the sketch gives Elijah FOUR children where family F74 holds NINE.
