Research note · 2 Aug 2026
AUDITED 2 Aug 2026 - HER DEATH DATE IS CONTRADICTED BY A RECORD, AND IS DELIBERATELY LEFT UNCHANGED. This tree gives her b. 1640 and d. 1690. BOTH ARE UNCITED, as is her surname. THE CONTRADICTION: her husband [89] William Temple of Bishopstrow had a wife ELIZABETH on 1 May 1685, and William's own will (PROB 11/383/207) says of property 'as was hers before I married with her' - which proves Elizabeth was a REMARRIAGE, not a first wife. A remarriage in or before 1685 cannot coexist with Marye living until 1690. THREE POSSIBILITIES REMAIN OPEN AND NOTHING HERE DISTINGUISHES THEM: (a) Marye died before 1685 and the 1690 is simply wrong; (b) the 1690 death belongs to a different woman and was attached to her; (c) she was not William's wife at all. ⛔ NO DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED, AND THAT IS THE DECISION, NOT AN OMISSION. A guessed date is worse than an honest flag: it would look sourced, would satisfy every automated check, and would be indistinguishable from evidence to the next reader. The arithmetic proves SOMETHING here is wrong; it does not prove WHICH thing. WHAT WOULD SETTLE IT: a Bishopstrow parish register burial for Marye/Mary Temple in the 1660-1690 window, or William's marriage entry to Elizabeth. The Bishopstrow registers are the same source that settled Junction #1 - see ancestry/temple-arnold-liston-junction.md. Her successor is [3350] Elizabeth Bennett, William's second wife, in family F894.
