The inventory opens: "1 Negro waman named Fanny $250, 1 Boy named Overton $2[00]" and "1 Negro Woman named Betty $50", then a quantity of corn, waggon and gear, horses, cattle, hemp and farm tools. Image 92: "As administrator of the estate of Jacob Carpenter dec'd we subscribe the foregoing appraisement..." followed by a list of debts owing to the estate (James Powell & James Christian; Abram Alderson; William Lynn; Jacob Coffman; George Linesbury) and SIGNED "Lindsay Powell" and "George T. Carpenter". The facing page is the SALE BILL, whose purchasers include George Carpenter, John Carpenter, David Carpenter and Jacob Carpenter, with Richard C. Napier, John Moore and Gabriel Penn. HONEST LIMITS: the year's final digit was read at MEDIUM magnification only - the viewer clips that line at full zoom; and the full inventory and full purchaser list are NOT read.

Audited 26 Jul 2026 - Junction #8. The duplicate marriage family F408 (with a second 'Leah Frye' and eight duplicate children) merged into F391. His wife Leah was Adam Carpenter's STEPdaughter, daughter of John Frye; they married 9 Sep 1800. Steve & Virginia Tyler Carpenter, The Carpenters of Carpenter's Station, Kentucky (1976), written from the Carpenter family papers and the Adam Carpenter family Bible, both preserved at the Kentucky Historical Society, Frankfort. AUDITED 2 Aug 2026 - HIS ESTATE IS NOW CITED, AND IT PUTS HIS DEATH DATE IN DOUBT. The Casey County, Ky. Will Book appraisement of his estate is headed 'Casey County Ky Dec 29th 1828 We the Commissioners appointed by the Casey County Court at their Dec'r term to appraise the Estate of Jacob Carpenter Deceased'. ⛔ THIS TREE GIVES HIM A DEATH OF 29 DEC 1828 - THE SAME NUMBER AS THE APPRAISEMENT. An appraisement is ordered at the court term AFTER a death and executed by sworn commissioners who must physically view the property; it does not happen on the day of death. HYPOTHESIS, NOT A CONCLUSION: an earlier researcher recorded the APPRAISEMENT date as the DEATH date, in which case he died before 29 Dec 1828. THE DATE HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED - two explanations fit and one of them is coincidence. NAMED TEST: the Casey County Court ORDER BOOK entry appointing the commissioners at the December 1828 term, which is dated and usually recites the death. The administrators signed 'Lindsay Powell' and 'George T. Carpenter'. ⚠️ George T. is NOT the same string as this tree's [956] George FRANKLIN Carpenter - recorded as a discrepancy, not smoothed. ⭐ 'Lindsay Powell' is suggestive for [957] Sarah 'Sallie' Powell, whose parents are unknown and whose grandson is [211] LINDSEY POWELL Carpenter - suggestive, not proof. Three enslaved people are named in the appraisement: FANNY, OVERTON and BETTY. See documents-read-index.md sections C and G.
