Research notes

Working notes from the research, kept verbatim — what was read, what it proved, what stays open. Many open with a line grading the parentage; what the grades mean.

Research note · 22 Aug 2026
PROOF CLASS: BOTH PARENTS = DIRECT - his 1953 Texas death certificate, Franklin Co. 2254, read on the image, states Thomas S. Ramsay [428] and Sally Davis [429]; K249, reviewed 5 Sep 2026. Reported by his son [126]. AUDITED 22 Aug 2026 - PARENTS PROVEN ON A STATE VITAL RECORD (typed, not handwritten), informant his own son. Texas death certificate, Franklin Co. no. 2254, 27 Jan 1953, read on the image: "12. FATHER'S NAME Thomas S. Ramsay" (birthplace Georgia) and "13. MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME Sally Davis" (birthplace Georgia). Both agree with the parents already in this tree, [428] Thomas Samuel Ramsay and [429] Sallie Fisher Davis, so ProofFather and ProofMother are set to 1. THE INFORMANT is "Landon Ramsey" - [126] Thomas Landon Ramsay, his son. The same son informed on his MOTHER's death certificate twenty-nine years later in 1982 (see [161]); the two records are mutually consistent. ⛔ A CONFLICT LEFT STANDING, NOT WRITTEN. This certificate gives his BIRTHPLACE as GEORGIA. The tree carries Oconee County, SOUTH CAROLINA, and the birth DATE (14 Mar 1873) matches the certificate exactly. Oconee Co. lies on the Georgia line and both parents are given here as Georgia-born, so a family straddling the state line - or a son simplifying - would explain it. The place has deliberately NOT been overwritten: an informant's memory does not outrank the existing place without a record. Note also that the tree's earlier supporting logic for this parentage - that his middle name "Fisher" matches his mother's middle name - is weak corroboration only. This certificate is the evidence. Registers K249, K253.
