PROOF CLASS: BOTH PARENTS = DIRECT - her 1982 Texas death certificate, Franklin Co. 02049, read on the image, states Thomas Holder [3422] and Mary E. Barrett [3423]; K246, reviewed 5 Sep 2026. Reported by her son [126]; 1880 census corroborates. AUDITED 22 Aug 2026 - PARENTS PROVEN ON A STATE VITAL RECORD, informant her own son. She was this cone's ONLY ring-3 dead end: the tree held no parents for her at all. Her Texas death certificate (Franklin Co. no. 02049, filed 4 Feb 1982, read on the image) states "17. FATHER'S NAME Thomas Holder" and "18. MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME Mary E. Barrett", and the "19. SIGNATURE OF INFORMANT" is Landon Ramsay - i.e. [126] Thomas Landon Ramsay, her own son, aged 77. CORROBORATION. 1880 census, Precinct 4 and 5, Franklin Co., family 107 (read on the image): a ten-month-old Emma in the household of Thomas Holder, 23, and Mollie, 18, "Wife" - Mollie being the ordinary nickname for Mary. The relationship word on Emma's own line could not be deciphered and Ancestry indexes it "Sister", but THE PAGE REFUTES ANY SIBLING READING IN ITS OWN BIRTHPLACE COLUMNS: Thomas and Mollie are each recorded with Georgia-born parents, while Emma's father and mother are BOTH recorded Alabama-born - which fits Thomas (b. Alabama) and Mollie (b. Alabama) as her parents and fits no sibling reading. Her own birthplace, Texas, matches. Find a Grave (memorial 98874369) independently states "Emma was the first child born to Thomas A Holder and Mary Elizabeth Barrett" and carries its own correction of an earlier error that had matched her GRANDFATHER as her father. THE FATHER. Thomas A. Holder's own Texas death certificate (Franklin Co. no. 36556, 13 Aug 1934, read on the image) gives his birth as 12 Nov 1856 and names HIS parents - "13. FATHER'S NAME D. J. Holder" (birthplace Ala.) and "15. MOTHER'S MAIDEN NAME Eliza Par[k]er" (birthplace Ala.) - which is the David x Eliza Holder household enumerated in Titus Co. in 1870 (Franklin Co. was created out of Titus in 1875). Those grandparents are NOT created here: ring 4 waits until ring 3 closes. REPORTED, NOT ADOPTED. Find a Grave gives Mary Elizabeth Barrett as b. 5 Feb 1862 Butler Co., Alabama, d. 14 Sep 1943, daughter of Benjamin J Barrett (d. Chickamauga, Sept 1863) and Mary Ann Elizabeth Pitts, and states the couple married 3 Oct 1878 in Franklin County. She is created here with a NAME ONLY; none of those dates is adopted as fact and the marriage record has not been seen. ⛔ AN UNRESOLVED DATE CONFLICT, recorded rather than smoothed. Three sources give her birth as 8 Aug 1878 (this certificate, Find a Grave, the tree). But the 1880 census has her at 10/12 in a June enumeration, implying birth about Aug 1879, and a 3 Oct 1878 marriage would put an 8 Aug 1878 birth TWO MONTHS BEFORE her parents married.
