READ ON THE MANUSCRIPT 19 Aug 2026 (Ancestry img 4244620-00042; Village of Halifax C.H., Banister, Halifax Co., Va., ED 112, enumerated Jun 1880, W. P. Houston; crops in ancestry/sources/lyons-anna-1880-halifax-2026-08-19/): dwelling 347 / family 352: 'Derrick, Henry C.' W M 48, CIVIL ENGINEER, b. Dist. of Columbia, father b. Penn., mother b. Penn.; Martha 39 wife b. Va.; Guy 10 son b. Nor. Carolina; Annie 7 daughter b. Va.; Cornelia 5 b. Va.; LeVere, Angeline 29 nurse. The enumerator interleaves the Cosby household (dw 348/fam 353) and then, STILL UNDER DWELLING 347 / FAMILY 352: 'Derrick, Anna' W F 70, MOTHER, widowed, at home, b. PENN., FATHER b. PENN., MOTHER b. PENN. So the citation is correctly attached - Anna was living with her son [511] Henry Clay Derrick, not a Halifax namesake. The relationship column evidences Anna-to-[511] (mother of the head), NOT the [105] link; F253 unaffected. Her row is the first record-class statement of HER OWN parents' birthplaces (both Pennsylvania), joining the 1850 D.C. household's 'Margaretta Lyons, 30, b. Pennsylvania' (register K223). Age 70 against b. 27 Sep 1807 (=72) is informant rounding, recorded. Register K228.

Research note · 19 Aug 2026
AUDITED 19 Aug 2026 - THE 'SUSPICIOUS' 1880 HALIFAX CITATION IS CORRECT, NOT A MIS-ATTACH (register K228): she is 'Derrick, Anna, 70, MOTHER, widowed, b. Penn.' in the household of her son [511] Henry Clay Derrick, 48, Civil Engineer, b. Dist. of Columbia - 1880 census, Village of Halifax C.H., Halifax Co., Va., ED 112, dw 347/fam 352, img 4244620-00042, read on the manuscript. Her row states HER OWN parents' birthplaces for the first time in any record this tree holds: FATHER b. PENNSYLVANIA, MOTHER b. PENNSYLVANIA - joining the 1850 D.C. household's 'Margaretta Lyons, 30, b. Pennsylvania' (register K223), so the Lyons parent hunt belongs in Pennsylvania series. The relationship column evidences Anna-to-[511] (mother of the head), NOT the [105] Josephine link; F253 unaffected by this read. Henry's own row gives father b. Penn. (matches [507]'s Pennsylvania birth, Cope 1887 p. 423 line). Age 70 against b. 27 Sep 1807 (=72) is informant rounding, recorded. This 1880 residence with her son also explains the 20 Dec 1892 death at Charlottesville, Albemarle Co. (E2137): her widowhood was spent with Virginia family, not in Washington City.
