Derrick[6], Sarah[5]" and matches this tree's birth and death to the day at both ends. AUDITED 8 Sep 2026 - his first. BOTH PARENTS GRADED ON ONE COMPILED SOURCE, AND THE GRADE SAYS SO. Gilbert Cope, Genealogy of the Sharpless Family (Philadelphia, 1887), printed folio 766, entry 2428, read on the page image - running head "THE SHARPLESS FAMILY", image at ancestry/sources/cope-1887-sharpless-genealogy-PAGE-766-VERIFIED-entry2428-william-s-derrick-children.jpg: "2428. William S. Derrick[6], Sarah[5], b. 7, 31, 1802; d. Washington, D. C., 5, 15, 1852; m. 8, 9, 1827, Anna P. Lyons." Cope's superscript notation STATES THE DESCENT - William S. of the sixth generation, son of Sarah of the fifth - and entry 685, p. 423, gives Sarah Sharples married to Philip Derrick, "son of Christian Derrick and Maria Rosina Gartenmeyer, of Philadelphia". ★ THE AGREEMENT IS DAY-EXACT AT BOTH ENDS: this tree holds b. 31 Jul 1802 and d. 15 May 1852. And the 1850 Washington City household, read on the images 18 Aug 2026 (register K223), reproduces Cope's seven children one-for-one by age. ⛔ COPE IS A COMPILED GENEALOGY - a single testifier, however good, and its Quaker-register basis is a reason to think it right, not a substitute for the register.
