Presley K. Ewing and Mary Ellen (Williams) Ewing, The Ewing Genealogy with Cognate Branches (Houston, 1919), pp. 45-46; read in the archive.org text (item ewinggenealogywi00ewinrich), personally re-verified 3 Aug 2026 with controls (running heads pp. 45/46; Boyd x12, Ewing x825 in the same file). Verbatim: "SIDNEY ANN EWING, daughter of Robert and Mary (Baker) Ewing, was born in Bedford County, Va.; died prior to the death of her father; married Adam Linn. Issue: (i) Nancy, married Abraham Boyd, 1796. Issue: 1ST. John, born Nashville, Tenn., about 1798; married Betsy McLean ... several times elected to the Congress of the Republic of Texas; he was one of the founders of Trinity University ... 2ND. Linn, born Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 28, 1800, died Paducah, Ky., Dec. 16, 1859 ... Speaker of the House, 1850-4; he was Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky in 1859 ... 4TH. Alfred, married Lucy Harrison, Issue: John, an attorney-at-law, married Sarah Cook; George, a physician, unmarried; Abraham, an attorney-at-law, married Miss O'Bannon; Agnes, married Mr. Grimes, of Paducah, Ky.; Adeline, and Martha, married Mr. Small. 5TH. Rufus, married Eliza Bennett." CORROBORATES the tree's existing chain joint for joint: [1668] Abraham Boyd x [1669] Nancy Linn (m. 1796) -> [1670] John, [1671] Linn (the Speaker), [1632] Alfred x [1633] Lucy Amis Harrison -> [833] Abraham "attorney-at-law" x Miss O'Bannon = [834] Fannie, with siblings Adeline = [1634] Adaline Linn, Agnes [1635] and Martha [1636] (F520/F516/F348 match the printed structure exactly; note [833]'s middle name HARRISON is his mother's maiden name, and [1634]'s middle name LINN her grandmother's). GRADE: compiled secondary — the book's own p. 45 footnote acknowledges reliance on F. M. Cockrell "without opportunity to verify"; treat as corroboration, not proof. CONFLICTS RECORDED, NOT RESOLVED: Ewing prints Linn's birth Nov. 28, 1800 where the tree (cited elsewhere) holds 22 Nov 1800; Ewing's "about 1798" for John vs the tree's 7 Aug 1796 — see the Audited note on [1670]. Working: agent-report-boyd-trigg-2026-08-03.md (agent draft; this passage spot-verified in-session).

Court session Tuesday 15 May 1855, Paducah, read on the manuscript at zoom 17 Aug 2026 (crop in sources/obannon-maurous-mccracken-2026-08-17/): 'Ordered that Eliza A Maurous be appointed guardian [of] Fanny M. O'Bannon, infant orphan of James O'Bannon deceased, under fourteen years of age; Whereupon she took the oath required by law, and together with Alexander L. Saunders (who justified as to his ability) her surety, entered into and acknowledged a covenant to the Commonwealth of Kentucky as required by law.' The book's own index lists 'Bannon Fanny M' at this page — FS OCR drops the O' (BANNON), so keyword searches must fan the variants. Fanny (b. 26 Oct 1842) was 12. Guardian Eliza A. Maurous = widow, sole executrix and testamentary guardian under the June 1851 will of Philip Maurous (Will Books 1825-1867, DGS 004817702, pp. 334-335), which devised his principal Paducah real estate to 'Fanny Maurous O'Bannon' and constituted Eliza 'sole guardian of my ward ... until she attain the age of twenty one years.'

Research note · 17 Aug 2026
AUDITED 17 Aug 2026 - FATHER PROVEN ON A COURT RECORD: the 15 May 1855 McCracken county court order (order book p. 562) names her 'Fanny M. O'Bannon, INFANT ORPHAN OF JAMES O'BANNON DECEASED' and appoints Eliza A Maurous her guardian. MOTHER NOT PROVEN - Maria [1626] rests on the 18 May 1841 deed only.THE CHAIN, all read on page images 17 Aug 2026 (evidence folder sources/obannon-maurous-mccracken-2026-08-17/; branch memo plunkett-harrison-obannon-2026-08-02.md): (1) deed 18 May 1841, 'James O'Bannon and Maria L. his wife' to Samuel L. Green (Deed Books, ark 3:1:3Q9M-C33S-BTKB) - the parent couple in McCracken 17 months before her birth 26 Oct 1842; (2) 13 Oct 1845 court order: 'Philip Maurous adm'r of Jas. O'Bannon dec'd' - her father dead 1841x1845, Maurous administering; (3) 1850 census p. 136A: Fannie, 7, in Philip Maurous's household, the only O'Bannon in the county; (4) Philip Maurous's will, June 1851 (Will Books DGS 004817702 pp. 334-335): devises his principal Paducah lots to 'Fanny Maurous O'Bannon' and constitutes wife Eliza 'sole guardian of my ward' to age 21; (5) the 1855 guardianship order above, surety Alexander L. Saunders; (6) June 1860 marriage bond to Abe Boyd 'Issued on certificate of Guardian' (DGS 007735455 pp. 285-286), witness John D. O'Bannon; (7) 1860 census Paducah dwelling 879: the newlyweds beside E. A. Marouse, 60, b. NY; (8) obituary, Louisville Daily Journal 24 Mar 1862 p. 3, born 'October 26th 1842'.LIMITS - No record names her MOTHER. Maria's later identity is open: the tree's 'Halstead' remarriage is unevidenced, and will clause 7's 'Philip Maurous [Saunders], son of Alexander & Maria Saunders of Louisiana' is an untested candidate for Maria remarried. [1627] 'Philip Maurous O'Bannon' (b. 1841 in this family) vs clause 7's Saunders boy is likewise UNRESOLVED - do not conflate them without a record.
