READ IN THE ORIGINAL REGISTER 24 Jul 2026; image kept at ancestry/sources/anom-cayes-du-fond-1791-plunkett-gentillot-marriage-view16.png MARGIN (the register's own index of the act): « M.ge françois achile plunket avec … gentillot » GROOM, as the act names him: « Sieur JEAN FRANÇOIS ACHILLE PLUNKETT, natif et habitant de la paroisse St Joseph de Torbek, fils légitime de feu Sieur François Plunkett … et de dame Marie [Rose/Louise] Euthrope Boyer de Lagautraye, aujourd'hui dame Bourdet » — minor, emancipated, assisted by « Sieur Etienne Boyer de Lagautraye son oncle et curateur » (his mother's brother). HE SIGNS THE ACT: « J.n François Plunkett ». BRIDE: « damoiselle Renée Rose Gentillot, native et habitante de notre paroisse », « fille légitime de Sieur Jean Désiré Gentillot, avocat en parlement … et de dame Margueritte Geneviève Le Febure, ses père et mère », « mineure d'âge », acting « sous l'authorisation de ses dits père et mère » — so BOTH her parents were alive on 4 May 1791. DISPENSATION: from R.P. Viriot, vice-préfet apostolique, from the impediment « du second au troisième degré de consanguinité en ligne collatérale » (letters of 27 Apr 1791). SIGNATURES: Renée Roze Gentillot, J.n François Plunkett, Gentilot (father), Lefeburegentilot (mother), delagautraye, Lafresselière + Lafresselière jeune, Gentilot de Lafresselière, Simon, Furmon, Duvau, Marrand. ⭐ WHY THIS IS CITED ON THE NAME: it is the authority for the given name FRANÇOIS, which the tree carried until 31 Jul 2026 as the hedged « (Francois?) Achilles » on nothing but SourceID 11, Geneanet Community Trees Index. The register names him François in the body, in the margin, and in his own signature. ⚠️ The act's fuller form is « Jean François Achille »; the tree keeps « François Achilles », the margin's form and the form his American records use. ⭐ AND IT IS THE ACT THAT PROVES THE TWO-SISTERS PEDIGREE: a 2nd-to-3rd mixed collateral degree is first cousins once removed, which fits two sisters and rules out the merged one-woman reading. See ancestry/lefebvre-gentillot-boyer-junction.md.

Torbeck, 6 juillet 1774, acte de bapteme de Rene Etienne Desire Bourdet (registre fol. 41r, page de droite, dernier acte). Lu sur l'image par Claude, 4 aout 2026. The two capitalised signatures in this act are the two Lefebvre sisters signing one and the same document: [1615], wife of Boyer de la Gautraye, and [3328], wife of Gentillot - alive and distinct in July 1774. The act names both parents of the child.

Research notes

Working notes from the research, kept verbatim — what was read, what it proved, what stays open.

Research note · 4 Aug 2026
Audited 24 Jul 2026, REVISED 30 Jul 2026 - this note supersedes the 24 Jul text, which was stored truncated at exactly 256 characters and broke off mid-word. Junction #2, Saint-Domingue. THIS RECORD WAS CREATED 24 Jul 2026 by splitting the merged person that carried BOTH the Boyer and the Gentillot marriages. She is the GENTILLOT wife; her elder sister [1615] Marguerite Lefebvre des Hayes is the Boyer wife. Proven from her daughter's marriage act (ANOM Cayes du Fond 1791 register, view 16 of 45; local image ancestry/sources/anom-cayes-du-fond-1791-plunkett-gentillot-marriage-view16.png), which names the bride's parents as "Sieur Jean Desire Gentillot, avocat en parlement" and "dame Margueritte Genevieve Le Febure, ses pere et mere", and records the bride proceeding "sous l'authorisation de ses dits pere et mere" - so both were ALIVE on 4 May 1791. Her own signature on the act reads "Lefeburegentilot". THE SPLIT ITSELF rests on the act's consanguinity dispensation, "du second au troisieme degre de consanguinite en ligne collaterale" (letters of 27 Apr 1791, R.P. Viriot, vice-prefet apostolique): 2nd-to-3rd mixed collateral is first cousins once removed, which fits two sisters and not one woman, since a half-aunt and half-nephew match would have required 1st-to-2nd. Corroborated by GHC 2013 art.23, which distinguishes child #8 Marguerite ("majeure en 1765") from child #9 ("mineure en 1765", married to a Gentilot son of Jean Noel), and independently by the 1825 French indemnity register's disjoint heir sets - titre 50438 against titres 52685 and 52720 - the latter agent-reported 27 Jul 2026 from the CNRS "Repairs" Base 1825 and domingino.de and NOT confirmed by a second reader. NAME CAUTION: the primary act calls this sister "Margueritte Genevieve Le Febure", the SAME lead name as her sister; GHC calls her "Genevieve Michel" and Geneanet pierfit calls her "Michelle Genevieve". The sisters' names overlap, so the split does NOT rest on the names - it rests on the consanguinity degree, on both parents being alive in 1791, and on GHC's majeure/mineure distinction. UNPROVEN VALUES ON THIS RECORD: the birth "abt 1745" is an ESTIMATE from her 1765 minority (colonial French majority was 25, so she was born after 1740, plausibly about 1745), not a documented date; and the marriage date 30 Aug 1768 Les Cayes du Fond was carried over from the old merged record on member-tree provenance and is UNVERIFIED. It cannot be checked in the obvious place: the ANOM Les Cayes 1768 register was surveyed 27 Jul 2026 and is CONFIRMED EMPTY, so that act, if it exists, is in another commune or another year. Memo: ancestry/lefebvre-gentillot-boyer-junction.mdAUDITED 4 Aug 2026 — NOT HER: the 1788 burial belongs to her SISTER. ANOM, etat civil Saint-Domingue, LES CAYES 1788 (collection 1DPPC5342), vue 27/47, read on the page image 4 Aug 2026: the woman buried 15 June 1788 is "dame Marguerite Genevieve Lefebvre ... VEUVE DE FEU M[essir]e ETIENNE BOYER DE LA GAUTRAYE", aged 60, native of St Thomas d'Aquin. That is [1615], who married Boyer de la Gautraye. This person married GENTILLOT and was alive in May 1791. THE DISCRIMINATOR, and it is the thing that prevents a re-merge: THESE TWO SISTERS ARE SEPARABLE ONLY BY HUSBAND — Boyer de la Gautraye ([1615]) vs Gentillot (this person). They share the given names Marguerite Genevieve, the surname Lefebvre des Hayes, the parents (F523 Jean Baptiste Lefebvre des Hayes x Renee Rose Le Pays) and the parish. Nothing else separates them. Transcription: sources/anom-cayes-du-fond-1788-lefebvre-veuve-boyer-burial-TRANSCRIPTION.md. Memo: ancestry/lefebvre-gentillot-boyer-junction.mdAUDITED 4 Aug 2026 - HER FORENAME IN PRIMARY RECORDS: the 10 Feb 1770 baptism of her daughter (J15) writes her 'dame Michelle Genevieve le febvre'; the 15 Sep 1772 baptism (J16) 'Genevieve Michel le febvre'; a 30 Apr 1768 Torbeck act (agent-read, unverified) 'demoiselle Michel Genevieve Lefebure', unmarried. The compound 'Marguerite Genevieve' in the same registers denotes her SISTER, the Boyer widow ([1615]) - see that person's note. THE DISCRIMINATOR IS THE HUSBAND (Gentillot vs Boyer): never merge the sisters on given names.
