Research note · 5 Aug 2026
AUDITED 5 Aug 2026 - [3152] MARGRETHA ZIMMERMAN / CARPENTER: flagged as a possible duplicate of [3155] MARGARET ZIMMERMAN/CARPENTER. No merge has been made.Conrad Carpenter's will, Lincoln County, Kentucky, 1829, sorts his siblings into half and full and names the full siblings as Adam, Henry, William, Anne, Barbary, Elizabeth, MARGARET and Sollima - ONE Margaret. Family F745 holds BOTH [3152] Margretha and [3155] Margaret, and neither carries a birth date or a citation.⛔ WHY NO MERGE: "the will names one" is absence-evidence about a very common name, and this project has been wrong that way before. Both were deliberately left unflagged when Conrad's will was cited on 5 Aug 2026 for exactly this reason. Owen ruled 5 Aug 2026: record the duplicate candidacy on both, merge nothing.◎ WHAT WOULD SETTLE IT: a baptism in the Peaked Mountain (Massanutten) register, Rockingham Co., Va., which is printed complete in William and Mary Quarterly XIII pp. 247-256 and XIV pp. 9-19 and 186-193. That register records George Zimmermann's family group and three later children, and it does not name a Margaret twice.
