READ IN THE ORIGINAL REGISTER 24 Jul 2026; image kept at ancestry/sources/anom-cayes-du-fond-1791-plunkett-gentillot-marriage-view16.png MARGIN (the register's own index of the act): « M.ge françois achile plunket avec … gentillot » GROOM, as the act names him: « Sieur JEAN FRANÇOIS ACHILLE PLUNKETT, natif et habitant de la paroisse St Joseph de Torbek, fils légitime de feu Sieur François Plunkett … et de dame Marie [Rose/Louise] Euthrope Boyer de Lagautraye, aujourd'hui dame Bourdet » — minor, emancipated, assisted by « Sieur Etienne Boyer de Lagautraye son oncle et curateur » (his mother's brother). HE SIGNS THE ACT: « J.n François Plunkett ». BRIDE: « damoiselle Renée Rose Gentillot, native et habitante de notre paroisse », « fille légitime de Sieur Jean Désiré Gentillot, avocat en parlement … et de dame Margueritte Geneviève Le Febure, ses père et mère », « mineure d'âge », acting « sous l'authorisation de ses dits père et mère » — so BOTH her parents were alive on 4 May 1791. DISPENSATION: from R.P. Viriot, vice-préfet apostolique, from the impediment « du second au troisième degré de consanguinité en ligne collatérale » (letters of 27 Apr 1791). SIGNATURES: Renée Roze Gentillot, J.n François Plunkett, Gentilot (father), Lefeburegentilot (mother), delagautraye, Lafresselière + Lafresselière jeune, Gentilot de Lafresselière, Simon, Furmon, Duvau, Marrand. ⭐ WHY THIS IS CITED ON THE NAME: it is the authority for the given name FRANÇOIS, which the tree carried until 31 Jul 2026 as the hedged « (Francois?) Achilles » on nothing but SourceID 11, Geneanet Community Trees Index. The register names him François in the body, in the margin, and in his own signature. ⚠️ The act's fuller form is « Jean François Achille »; the tree keeps « François Achilles », the margin's form and the form his American records use. ⭐ AND IT IS THE ACT THAT PROVES THE TWO-SISTERS PEDIGREE: a 2nd-to-3rd mixed collateral degree is first cousins once removed, which fits two sisters and rules out the merged one-woman reading. Titre 52654 · n° ordre d'état de paiement 6751 · Valeur du titre 32.000 F · Date des décisions 11/08/1831 · Registre V · page recueil 492 · Localisation Haïti Saint-Domingue · paroisse n° 45, TORBECK. PROPRIÉTÉ — Type: Sucrerie · Nom du bien rural: "Dite Romain" · Quartier: Boucan-Lafrance · Localité: Torbeck. CIRCULATION DU TITRE: PLUNKET François — Ancien propriétaire, rang 1, précision: "pour moitié" ROYER [sic; printed BOYER elsewhere on the same record] DE LA GAUTRAYE Marie-Eutrope — Ancien propriétaire, rang 2, précision: "pour l'autre moitié" PLUNKET John-Désiré — Ayant droit 1 — "Seuls héritiers de leur grand-père, ancien propriétaire" — 32.000 F, 4 indemnitaires PLUNKET Achille-Nevison — Ayant droit 2 — idem PLUNKET Marie-Louise — Ayant droit 3 — idem BOYER DE LA GAUTRAYE Marie-Eutrope — Ayant droit 4 — "ancienne propriétaire" ⭐ THE LOAD-BEARING PHRASE: "SEULS HÉRITIERS DE LEUR GRAND-PÈRE" establishes that John-Désiré, Achille-Nevison and Marie-Louise Plunket are GRANDCHILDREN of the ancien propriétaire François Plunket - i.e. it sources the chain François [1594] -> Achilles [1586] -> the three children, in one clause. "Seuls" (sole) also means these were his only surviving heirs in 1831. ⚠️ The same woman is printed ROYER in one line and BOYER in another - transcription variance within the source itself.

Research note · 4 Aug 2026
Audited 24 Jul 2026, REVISED 30 Jul 2026 - this note supersedes the 24 Jul text, which was stored truncated at exactly 256 characters and broke off mid-word. Junction #2, Saint-Domingue. His 1791 marriage act was read in the original register: ANOM etat civil, Saint-Domingue, LES CAYES, annee 1791 (volume "Cayes du Fond, 1791 a 1793"), view 16 of 45; local image ancestry/sources/anom-cayes-du-fond-1791-plunkett-gentillot-marriage-view16.png. The act names him "Sieur Jean Francois Achille Plunkett, natif et habitant de la paroisse St Joseph de Torbek, fils legitime de feu Sieur Francois Plunkett ... et de dame Marie [Rose/Louise] Euthrope Boyer de Lagautraye, aujourd'hui dame Bourdet". ESTABLISHED: he was native to and living in the Saint-Joseph de Torbeck parish; his father Francois Plunkett was already dead by May 1791; his mother had remarried, and she is the tree's Marie Louise Eutrope Boyer de la Gautraie, whose second husband was Joseph Jean Bourdet (d. Jan 1814, Williamsburg) - Bourdet signatures appear on the act. He married 4 May 1791 at Notre-Dame de l'Assomption des Cayes du Fond, with banns published there and at Torbeck; he was a minor, emancipated, assisted by "Sieur Etienne Boyer de Lagautraye son oncle et curateur", i.e. his mother's brother. THE DECISIVE DETAIL: the couple obtained from R.P. Viriot, vice-prefet apostolique, a dispensation from the impediment "du second au troisieme degre de consanguinite en ligne collaterale" (letters of 27 Apr 1791). In canon law a 2nd-to-3rd mixed collateral degree is first cousins once removed - bride two generations from the common ancestors, groom three - which fits the TWO-SISTERS pedigree exactly and rules out the merged one-woman reading, under which the couple would have been half-aunt and half-nephew and the dispensation 1st-to-2nd. This is the record that disproves the old "merge Marguerite Genevieve duplicate" instruction. NOT RESOLVED: the word before "Euthrope" in his mother's name is not legible at this resolution, so the tree's "Marie Louise" is unconfirmed and was NOT changed. SOURCING GAP recorded so it is not forgotten: as of 30 Jul 2026 his citations are all North Carolina marriage and probate records plus Geneanet, and the tree holds no ANOM register, GHC bulletin or 1825 indemnity record for any Saint-Domingue person. Memo: ancestry/lefebvre-gentillot-boyer-junction.md ── ADDENDUM 31 Jul 2026 (2): HIS NAME NO LONGER HEDGES, AND IT IS NOW CITED TO THE REGISTER RATHER THAN TO A COMPILED TREE. Primary name changed « (Francois?) Achilles » → « François Achilles » at Owen's instruction. ⛔ The hedge was only half the defect: the name [1643] carried exactly ONE citation, SourceID 11 Geneanet Community Trees Index, while the ANOM parish register that actually names him — read in the original 24 Jul 2026 — had never been entered as a SOURCE at all. Both fixed in one pass: a new source (ANOM état civil de Saint-Domingue, the parish registers themselves) with the act transcribed, linked to the NAME and to the real marriage event E8523. The register calls him « Sieur Jean François Achille Plunkett », its margin indexes the act as « M.ge françois achile plunket », and he signs « J.n François Plunkett » — three attestations of François in one document. ⚠️ The fuller « Jean François Achille » was NOT adopted: « Achilles » is the form all his American records use. ⭐ ALSO IN THIS PASS: F876, the phantom family ([1586] × nobody carrying a duplicate 4 May 1791 marriage E8524), was deleted — its Geneanet citation CID 6900 re-pointed to the REAL marriage E8523 on F502 first, which until now had zero citations. ⛔ STILL OPEN AND DELIBERATELY UNTOUCHED: Probate E4597 (13 Jan 1824) precedes Death E4595 (26 Jan 1824) by thirteen days. Both are cited; read the citations before moving either date.AUDITED 4 Aug 2026 - HIS BAPTISM IS FOUND, AT LES CAYES: ANOM, Les Cayes 1769, fol. Birth 20 May 1769 confirmed exactly. CONFLICT, recorded not resolved: the baptism act says born 'en cette parroisse' (Les Cayes parish) while this tree and the 1791 marriage act (C6941) say Torbeck; the contemporaneous act disagrees with the 22-years-later one; the father merely RESIDED at Torbeck. NEW: godfather 'M.re Jean Plunkett, ecuyer, habitant... quartier du Cap Dalmari, son oncle' - a brother of [1594] Francois Plunkett, not yet in this tree. Godmother 'Marguerite Genevieve le febvre, v.e de la Gautraye... sa grande mere'. Image: sources/anom-les-cayes-1769-achille-plunkett-baptism-10aug1769-fol134-vue7.jpg; register J14.
