Margaret C Divers". SUPERSEDES THE TWO CLASS LINES BELOW, BOTH OF WHICH ARE KEPT AS THE RECORD OF HOW THIS GRADE MOVED AND NEITHER OF WHICH IS CURRENT: (a) this note's own 'MOTHER = ARGUMENT', written earlier on 11 Sep 2026 from evidence in hand, and (b) the 16 Aug 2026 'FATHER = ARGUMENT' resting on the 1882 Pettis Co. history. BOTH HALVES ARE NOW DIRECT ON A RECORD. The proof flags do NOT move: F134 RecID 158 was already 1/1 before this correction, so nothing in ChildTable changed. THE CLAUSE (K614) - Last Will of Adam Carpenter, Johnson Co., Missouri, arks 3:1:3QSQ-G9LM-ZCJ5 (ms. p. 191) and 3:1:3QSQ-G9LM-ZCNK (ms. p. 193), DGS 007631097 = 'Johnson > Wills, 1852-1905, vol E-F', collection 2399107: "All the remainder of my property, both personal and real, after the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses, I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary A Carpenter, for the term of her natural life, and at her death I desire that the said property hereby devised to my said wife shall descend in equal shares to OUR CHILDREN Ann C Jones, Susan J Langston, Emily E Courtney, Nancy C Powell, W D Carpenter, Matilda E Blarkburn, Beershaba P Carpenter, MARGARET C DIVERS and Mary A Carpenter." Signed "this Seventh day of September A.D. 1877, Adam Carpenter"; witnesses S. G. Kelly and J. W. F. Jones; executors the widow and the son William D. Carpenter. He died 14 Sep 1877, SEVEN DAYS LATER - a deathbed will, which independently corroborates the death date. WHY THIS IS DIRECT AND NOT ARGUMENT: one instrument, written by the father, names the mother as his wife and names Margaret among THEIR children in the same sentence. It does not name a parent - it names BOTH parents of the same child, in one breath. It settles the father half and the mother half together. AND IT IS ATTESTED TWICE, BY EACH PARENT SEPARATELY (K615) - the Last Will of Mary A. Carpenter, signed 1 Dec 1890 at Knob Noster and proved Feb 1897 (ark 3:1:3QSQ-G9LM-ZCJ1; proof-of-will affidavit 3:1:3QSQ-G9LM-ZCJP, witnesses D. H. Dearman and S. G. Kelly, clerk W. C. McDonald): "my children Bursheba P Taylor, Matilda E Blackburn, Wm D Carpenter, Nancy C. Powell, Margaret C. Divers, Emily E Courtney and the heirs of Susan J Langston dec'd, having all been provided for heretofore" ... "I hereby will and bequeath the same to my two daughters Ann C. Jones and Mary A. Carpenter". THE SAME NINE CHILDREN, thirteen years later, independent of Adam's will. THE ONLY TREE CHILD ABSENT IS [746] LARKIN H., b. 19 Oct 1853, d. 29 Oct 1854 - DEAD AT TWELVE MONTHS, twenty-three years before the will. SO K406'S DISCREPANCY IS CLOSED BY RECORD, NOT BY ARGUMENT: the 1881 History of Johnson County's 'nine children: one son and eight daughters' is EXACTLY RIGHT, and the tree's apparent ten children and two sons is reconciled without changing anything. Earlier on 11 Sep 2026 this same explanation was OFFERED and explicitly labelled NOT PERFORMED; the wills perform it. DO NOT RE-RAISE IT. EIGHT OF NINE MIDDLE INITIALS IN THE WILL MATCH THE TREE'S RECORDED MIDDLE NAMES - Jackson, Coleman, Dinwiddie, Ellen, Powell, Elisabeth, Catherine, and Margaret's own C. An identity confirmation no census could give. WHAT THIS DOES NOT ESTABLISH, so nobody re-hunts it: neither will names [217] Mary Ann Jones's OWN parents, and neither names [216] Adam's - those remain open at ring 6 and ring 7. The J. W. F. JONES who witnessed the will is NOT a maternal-family link: he returns 7 Johnson Co. hits across probate books of 1857-1884 and an 1884 circuit docket, an ordinary recurring local man and a discharged guardian. A witness is evidence of his NAME. Separately and also not to be built on, [751] Anne Catherine married a Jones ('Ann C Jones') - a coincidence, recorded. ROUTE, so it is not re-derived: the will book is FREE AT HOME and FULL-TEXT SEARCHABLE, but it is NOT in full-text collection M9J1-S91 - scope by q.groupName=007631097, not by f.collectionId, and find the DGS through the WAYPOINT BROWSE off an ark's breadcrumb, because the catalog service silently ignores q.place. PROOF CLASS: MOTHER = ARGUMENT - graded by Owen 11 Sep 2026 on E2-ring5-triage-2026-09-11.md. She was born 26 Sep 1841 inside the documented 5 Mar 1834 marriage (K545), and exactly one adult woman is in this household in 1840, 1850 and 1860. SUPERSEDED BY THE LINE ABOVE - read it before the paragraphs below: this note's 16 Aug 2026 "NO mother named, ProofMother stays 0" and "[217] Mary Ann Jones remains unevidenced as her mother", and its 18 Aug 2026 "F134 stays 1/0". F134 RecID 158 now reads 1/1. The paternal half is untouched by this write and is NOT reopened - it stands exactly as graded on 2 Sep 2026. THE ARGUMENT (proof-standard.md shape B - nothing in hand STATES the relationship; what is foreclosed is any OTHER mother): (1) K545 - the ORIGINAL Casey Co., Ky. marriage return, Adam Carpenter x Mary Ann Jones, 5 Mar 1834, John Jones M.G., read on the manuscript image 8 Sep 2026. (2) Measured against this database 11 Sep 2026: F134's eldest child is [751] Anne Catherine, b. 5 Feb 1835 - ELEVEN MONTHS after that marriage. No child of [216] predates it. [216] has exactly one family in the DB and [217] has exactly one. (3) K549, CORRECTED 11 Sep 2026 - the 1840 Liberty, Casey Co. household is a 4-for-4 bucket match to F134: 1 M 30-39 = [216] aged 35; 1 F 20-29 = [217] aged 21; 1 F 5-9 = [751] Anne Catherine aged 5 (the child K549 had called UNEXPLAINED); 2 F under 5 = [752] Susan 3 and [745] Emily 1. (4) C6950 - the 1850 Casey Co. household, dwelling 93: Adam 46, Mary A 32, Margaret C 8, with seven children matched to the tree and nothing unexplained. (5) C6957 - the 1860 Johnson Co., Mo. household: the same couple, Mary A aged 42. (6) K607 - her own marriage return, Johnson Co., Mo., 26 Oct 1858, "Mr. Lindsay P. Carpenter and Miss Margaret C. Carpenter of the County and State aforesaid", Thomas W. Hancock J.P., read on the image 11 Sep 2026 from a citation that had sat untranscribed on local disk since 24 Jul 2026. It explains her absence from the 1860 household. SO: she is [216]'s daughter (paternal half graded 1 and affirmed by Owen 2 Sep 2026) and was born 7.5 years inside a marriage evidenced by an original return at its start and by censuses at +6, +16 and +26 years, in which the household holds exactly ONE adult woman, aged 21, 32 and 42 - one woman b. c.1818. No census between 1834 and 1860 shows a different or additional wife. There is no window for another mother. LIMITS, stated so nobody re-derives them: this is ARGUMENT, not DIRECT - no record in hand names [217] as her parent. The 1840 schedule names nobody, so it evidences CONTINUITY, not IDENTITY; and [751] carries zero citations, so that census bucket corroborates HER rather than the reverse. [217]'s tree birth of 14 Aug 1818 carries zero citations and is probably derived from her 1850 census age, so it cannot be quoted back as an independent fact - the records allow c.1811-1820. And K406's discrepancy is still live: the 1881 History of Johnson County gives [216] "nine children: one son and eight daughters" where the tree holds ten and two sons; an explanation is available ([746] Larkin died at 12 months in 1854, and [751] married out before 1850) but it is OFFERED, NOT PERFORMED - nobody has checked it against a record. UPGRADES TO DIRECT ON [217]'S OWN WILL, and the document is now located (K609, 11 Sep 2026): the executor's bond on her estate, Johnson Co., Mo., dated 29 Mar 1897 - twenty days after she died - "A. M. Craig, Executor of the estate of Mary A. Carpenter, deceased ... touching said Last Will of said deceased", $3,000, sureties J. A. B. Adcock and Ed S. Hort[e], clerk W. C. McDonald. SHE DIED TESTATE, and a woman's will names her children. [216] also died testate (K608: his will was proved and "ordered of Record", witnesses J. G. Kelly and J. W. F. Jones) - so the five-reel MSA settlement chain in K406 was built on the premise that he died intestate, and it is superseded. NEITHER WILL HAS BEEN READ. Move one is free: establish whether the Johnson Co. will book is digitised on FamilySearch - UNMEASURED, not absent. PROOF CLASS: FATHER = ARGUMENT - the 1882 Pettis Co. history calls her "daughter of Adam Carpenter"; identity held by the 1850 Casey Co. household and the 1880 Lamonte row's step-children. The 1880 Virginia birthplace is its lone discordant column. AUDITED 16 Aug 2026 - SURNAME CORRECTED: she is Margaret CARPENTER; the tree's 'Carter' was wrong. FATHER PROVEN ON INFORMANT TESTIMONY, NOT A RECORD - father only, NO mother named, ProofMother stays 0. Source: 1882 History of Pettis Co., Mo., p. 890-91. THE DOCUMENT - The History of Pettis County, Missouri (1882), History of LaMonte Township, pp. 890-891, biographical sketch of JOHN H. DIVERS, her second husband (Internet Archive historyofpettisc00demu; local OCR in sources/carpenter-lindsey-casey-pettis-2026-08-16/, read by the launcher 16 Aug 2026): "He married a second time in 1877, Mrs. Margaret Carpenter, daughter of Adam Carpenter. B[y] this union they had one daughter, Lulu F. Mrs. Divers had [f]ive children b[y] her former husband." (OCR prints 'live' for 'five'.) IDENTIFICATION - this is [203]: the 1850 census (District 2, Casey Co., Ky., dwelling 93, transcript on citation C6950) shows 'Margaret C 8' in the household of Adam Carpenter 46; she married Lindsey Powell Carpenter (F133) and was widowed when he died in 1875; her 1880 residence is Lamonte, Pettis, Missouri (1880 census, ED 116, p. 77A) - the township whose 1882 county history prints the sketch. GRADE - informant-class: a commissioned county-history sketch about her husband, not a record. It names her father outright and names NO mother, so ProofFather=1 and ProofMother stays 0; [217] Mary Ann Jones remains unevidenced as her mother. The 1850 household is co-residence only - the 1850 schedule has no relationship column. CAVEATS - (1) The sketch says she brought five children by her former husband where F133 holds eight (three clustered 1870-71; possible shells - see agent-report-carpenter-lindsey-casey-pettis-2026-08-16.md). (2) The sketch assigns the eight older Divers children to first wife Mary Brown and gives Margaret ONE Divers daughter, Lulu F.; the F132 attribution question stays research-first, no edit made. (3) A DIFFERENT Margaret Carter - daughter of Henry Carpenter per his 1847 Lincoln Co., Ky. will - appears in the records; do not fuse them (zimmerman-carpenter-junction.md). 18 AUG 2026 - THE 1880 LAMONTE PAGE READ ON THE MANUSCRIPT (register K224): the identification is no longer index-level - the Divers household's step-children are CARPENTER, Fannie 12 and Major 10, matching her F133 children Fannie Ellen and Major Lindsey Carpenter by name and age; her age 39 in June 1880 matches b. 26 Sep 1841. Widowed mother Mary Ann Jones is NOT in the household - F134 stays 1/0. CONFLICT recorded: the 1880 row reports Margaret and both parents born VIRGINIA, against the 1850 Casey Co. Ky. household (C6950) and Adam's 1850 'Tennessee'.
